Modeshift Stars : Silver Award
We are celebrating becoming the first secondary school in Northamptonshire to be awarded the Modeshift STARS silver award.
This project involves promoting active travel as well as becoming more carbon neutral. The academy worked alongside local community business Brightwayz throughout the project and we would like to express their thanks to Alison Holland and her team.
Several initiatives contributed to the silver award including:
- the creation and implementation of a school active travel policy and action plan
- the creation of a park and stride scheme
- walking bubbles
- all year groups from 7-13 receiving bespoke active travel PSHE lessons
- hosting and supporting local bike rides
- Bikeability courses and also bike maintenance.
As a result the academy see’s 58% of their students walk to school in comparison to a county wide average of 44% - source – the Northamptonshire children and young people health and well being survey 2022.

Please check your emails for the first of our Curriculum Newsletters which we have sent out.
These are year group specific documents giving you information about what your child is studying this term, some key dates for exams and assessments and guidance on preparation students will do for these.
More detailed information about specific subjects is available in the curriculum area of the academy website.
Please direct any questions to Heads of Department whose contact information can be found on the academy website.
Every week, students in years 7-11, are expected to hit a 20-point target. Moving forward, students must complete vocabulary work only.
Please remember that Bedrock homework is set from Monday and the cut off for completion is Sunday evening.
We try to support students with this target by allocating them at least one form time session per week.
If you have any Bedrock questions, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org for support.
KBA Book Amnesty
We had a great response from all years, finishing with a fantastic total of 63 books returned. All students who returned books were awarded merits and entered into a prize draw.
The lucky winners were Jack in Year 5 and Grey in Year 10. These students have been awarded vouchers and books as prizes.
There is always time to return any overdue books should you find any at home, in lockers or bags. The library is open every day.
We would like to promote the following as part of our on-going links with His Grace, the Duke of Buccleuch's estate.
